Poke (pronounced poh-kay, not poh-kee) originated from fishermen seasoning the cut-offs from their catch to serve as a snack. Traditional Hawaiian poke consists of cubed raw fish, Maui onions, Inamona, Limu, soy sauce, green onions or sesame oil.

More contemporary variatious include seaweed, Furikake, wasabi, roe and toasted macadamia nut. The beauty of poke lies within its endless combinations whether served on its own, on top of seasoned rice or even a medley of greens and fruits!
